Depart home city via your chosen air carrier to Siem Reap arriving Friday, Sep. 21st. (Airport Code: REP)

Day 1: Friday, Sep 21

Arrive Siem Reap, Cambodia

Arrive Siem Reap Airport. After clearing customs, an AMA Waterways representative will personally meet and escort you to awaiting transportation to take you to the deluxe 5 Star Sofitel Angkor Phokeethra Golf & Spa Resort (WOW…try to say that fast 5 times in a row!). After check-in, the balance of the day is free for you to relax and stroll this elegant French Colonial resort with its manicured gardens and lush landscaping. Tonight, please join your fellow FoCA travelers for a private “Welcome to Cambodia”cocktail reception followed by dinner (on property).

Day 2: Saturday, Sep. 22

Siem Reap

Today you have a sightseeing option to visit the Angkor Archaeological Park, for either a Full Day Tour OR a Half Day Tour. The Angkor Archaeological Park contains the magnificent remains of several capitals of the Khmer Empire of the 9th to the 15th centuries. Lunch and dinner are on your own. The good news is that the resort has five “top notch” restaurants and bars for you to consider.

Day 3: Sunday, Sep. 23

Siem Reap

This morning, you have a sightseeing option to visit Angor Wat, an astounding masterpiece of architecture representing the largest religious monument in the world. There are two tours from which to choose; The Early Riser Angor Wat Tour (watch the sunrise come up over the temples) OR a Morning Excursion to Angor Wat. We know you will be impressed with whichever one you choose!

Day 4: Monday, Sep. 24

Transfer Siem Reap to Prek Kdam / Embarkation

Today you will be transferred from Siem Reap by deluxe motorcoach to Prek Kdam. Upon arrival in Prek Kdam, a small village on the Tonle River, you will board AMA’s luxurious riverboat, the AmaDara, your home for the

next seven nights. After check-in (afternoon) you are free to explore the beautiful AmaDara or just relax and watch the interesting river traffic while sipping one of your favorite libations. This evening, gather with your fellow FoCA travelers for a festive Welcome Dinner as the ship cruises to Kampong Chhnang.

Day 5: Tuesday, Sep. 25

Kampong Chhnang & Koh Chen

After break¬fast, a local boat will take you into the lakeside wetlands that form the mouth of the Tonle Sap River. Enjoy the stunning variety of bird life and be on the lookout for the traps used to catch fish in this area – some are over a half-mile long. In the afternoon, you can take a leisurely walk to the Koh Chen village, where you will visit some home workshops specializing in silversmith¬ing and coppersmithing.

Day 6: Wednesday, Sep. 26

Oudong & Kampong Tralach / Phnom Penh

This morning, transfer to Oudong, the former capital of Cambodia, and tour a monastery where you will receive a special Buddhist blessing. In Kampong Tralach, you will have a truly memorable excursion – an oxcart ride through the rice paddies surrounding a small village. Later, your ship departs for Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia, where an afternoon orientation tour will give you a wonderful introduction to the city. Here you will enjoy a Tuk Tuk ride and visit one of Phnom Penh’s magnificent Pagodas. Return to the ship for dinner and an onboard Khmer folk performance presented by local children. The vessel moors overnight in Phnom Penh.

Day 7: Thursday, Sep. 27

Phnom Penh

This morning you will take an excursion to Cambodia’s infamous Killing Fields to visit the Khmer Rouge’s grim Tuol Sleng S21 detention center (Genocide Museum) just outside the city. After lunch on board the boat, your afternoon tour explores the highlights of the city,

famous for its French colonial architecture, busy cafés and colorful nightlife. Visit the Royal Palace, the spectacular Silver Pagoda and the National Museum, which has an outstanding collection of Khmer crafts. An overnight on the waterfront provides an opportunity to dine on your own in one of many nearby restaurants, if you so choose.

Day 8: Friday, Sep. 28

Phnom Penh to Tan Chau, Vietnam / Border Crossing

Spend the day cruising the Mekong River as your ship crosses the border into Vietnam. Your vessel moors midstream at the small town of Tan Chau, Vietnam.

Day 9: Saturday, Sep. 29

Tan Chau / Sa Dec

This morning, you’ll visit Tan Chau, a small Mekong River town unspoiled by tourism. You will have the opportunity to take one of two tours this morning. Your first option is a traditional "xe-loi" (trishaw) ride around the town, with stops at a silk-making workshop and another that produces rattan mats and slippers. Alternatively, you can take a boat ride through the narrow channels of the Mekong River to several scenic locations, including a small village known as "Evergreen Island."" Return to Tan Chau, where you will visit workshops that make silk and rattan mats in the village. This afternoon, your ship cruises to the beautiful little village of Sa Dec, where it will moor overnight.

Day 10: Sunday, Sep. 30

Sa Dec / Xeo Quyt – Cai Be

Once ashore in Sa Dec, tour the town where French writer Marguerite Duras spent many years in her youth. Visit a colorful local market and the house of Mr. Huynh Thuy Le, Duras' Chinese paramour. Later, board a motor coach for Xeo Quyt, once used as a base during the French and U.S. wars and now an important ecological site. After lunch on board, a local boat will take you to Cai Be’s spectacular floating market. You will also have an opportunity to visit candy and rice paper workshops. This evening, enjoy a festive Farewell Dinner on board.

Day 11: Monday, Oct. 01

Ho Chi Minh City – Disembarkation

Your cruise comes to an end as the ship docks at My Tho Port. After disembarking, board a deluxe motorcoach for a 2 hour sightseeing tour of Ho Chi Minh City, finalizing the tour at your hotel for the next 2 nights, the deluxe Sofitel Saigon Plaza, for check-in followed by lunch. The adventure is not over yet! After lunch, if you’re still feeling “feisty,” you can explore the city’s bustling streets…OR you can just relax and enjoy the ambiance of the Sofitel Saigon Plaza. Tonight, dinner is on your own. This is a chance for you and your fellow FoCA friends to find that perfect side street restaurant that you see in the movies!

Day 12: Tuesday, Oct. 02

Ho Chi Minh City to USA (or other destinations)

Today is the last day of our amazing trip (bummer!). This is a chance for you to some last minute shopping, take one last rickshaw ride, or just relax by one of the hotels beautiful swimming pools. Whatever you choose to do, we know you will make the most of it!

Tonight, please join your fellow FoCA travelers for “Farewell to Indochina”cocktails followed by dinner (on property). Thank you for joining our 2018 FoCAs great adventure and we hope to see all of you on our 2019 trip!
